Ingredients summary:

Alfalfa “one of the most mineral-rich foods known, alfalfa has roots that grow as much as 130 feet into the earth... It also contains calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, plus virtually all know vitamins. The minerals are in a balanced form, which promotes absorption”. (Nutritional Healing, Phyllis A. Balch p. 73)

Barley grass is high in calcium, iron, all the essential amino acids, chlorophyll, flavonoids, vitamin B12, vitamin C, and many minerals, plus enzymes. The food heals stomach, duodenal, and colon disorders as well as pancreatitis, and is an effective anti-inflammatory”. (Nutritional Healing, Phyllis A. Balch, p. 74)
Wheat grass contains a great variety of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. According to Dr. Wigmore, 1 pound of fresh wheatgrass is equal in nutritional value to nearly 25 pounds of the choicest vegetables...The molecular structure of chlorophyll resembles that of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein of red blood cells, and this may be the reason for the effectiveness of wheatgrass. The key difference between the two is that the metallic atom in the middle of each molecule of human hemoglobin is iron, while the metallic atom at the center of a molecule of chlorophyll is magnesium. In experiments on anemic animals, blood counts returned to normal after four to five days of receiving chlorophyll”. (Nutritional Healing, Phyllis A. Balch p. 91)
Dandelion leaf  is a diuretic used to reduce the volume of fluid in the body and reduce short term weight gain caused by eating too much salt. Dandelion is an effective detoxifier which is used to remove toxins from the liver and kidney. It removes pollutants and help with conditions such as constipation, acne, eczema, psoriasis, osteoarthritis, high blood pressure and gout. It also, “increase bile flow in your gallbladder and improves how your body processes fat and cholesterol”. (James A. Duke, Healing Foods p. 186)
Horsetail has been traditionally used for kidney and bladder problems, arthritis, bleeding ulcers and tuberculosis. “Horsetail is very rich in silica, which strengthens connective tissue and combats arthritis. Silicon is a vital component for bone and cartilage formation”. (Herbal Healing, Phyllis A. Balch p. 83) Horsetail “aids calcium absorption, which promotes healthy skin and strengthens bones, hair, nails, and teeth”. (Nutritional Healing, Phyllis A. Balch p. 113)
Purple Dulse is a good source of minerals and vitamins compared with other vegetables and it contains all trace elements needed by humans and has a high protein content.
Red Clover contain high levels of isoflavones that are phytoestrogenic and has traditionally been used to treat breast cancer. Red Clovers is often used in combination with other purifying herbs. It is an expectorant and may be used for spasmodic coughs. Red clover is a source of many nutrients including calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin C.
Stinging Nettle key actions: Diuretic, tonic, astringent, prevents hemorrhaging, antiallergenic, reduces prostate enlargement and anti-inflammatory. Stinging Nettle is one of the most potent herbs for use in allergy relief. Nettle “contains many active painkilling and anti-inflammatory compounds, such as caffeic acid, ferulic acid and scopoletin”. (Healing Foods, James A. Duke p. 288) Nettle is high in flavonoids and potassium.
Watercress “is part of the crucifer or mustart family and was approved by the German Commission E for respiratory infections”. (Healing Foods, James A. Duke p. 79) Watercress contains isothiocyanates and is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, C, and E, and minerals (especially iodine, iron and phosphorus). Allyl isothiocyanate has broad spectrum antibiotic activity. Research in the 1960s suggested that watercress might have antitumor activity”. (Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine Andrew, Chevallier, p. 238)
Carrot is a good source of beta-carotene, with one large carrot providing 6 milligrams. Foods rich in vitamin A such as carrot are important for bone health. Carrot is known to help heal cataracts, angina, osteoporosis, psoriasis and help protect against wrinkles (look at Bugs bunny, he is over 70 and still looks young).
Beet juice is great to help detoxify the liver, to help reduce congestion in the body. Beets are rich in the nutrient betaine, which is important for cardiovascular health.
Pomegranates help your body fight off cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and menopause symptoms. “Pomegranates have been shown to be cholesterol and heart disease fighters in many studies. As powerful as it is, however, that antioxidant potential pales in comparison to the phytoestrogens in a pomegranate. Just half a fruit may contain the estrogenic equivalent of a daily dose of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), a common treatment for women struggling with menopause symptoms”. (The Green Pharmacy guide to Healing Food, James A. Duke p. 27)
